MILES CITY, Mont. (NMB) – A 41-year-old Laurel man was killed and a 36-year-old Baker man was injured in a single-vehicle crash near Miles City late Tuesday morning.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 11:38 AM at mile marker 2 of secondary road 489, when a vehicle failed to negotiate a left curve, instead going off the road to the left and into a broadside skid.
The vehicle overturned in the ditch and both occupants, who were not wearing seatbelts, were fully ejected. The vehicle was engulfed in flames.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was transported to a local emergency room.
Excessive speed is a suspected factor in the crash. The road was bare and dry.
