LAME DEER, Mont. (NMB) – 31-year-old Alan Red Rope of Ashland was killed in a rollover crash near Lame Deer on Tuesday afternoon.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 4:03 PM at mile marker 46 of US 212, when Red Rope was driving a GMC Yukon westbound and failed to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road.
Red Rope attempted to steer the vehicle to the right after leaving the roadway, but this led to it rolling over into a ditch.
Red Rope, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and transported to a hospital in Lame Deer, where he was declared dead.
There were no other occupants of the vehicle.
Drugs, alcohol or excessive speed are not suspected factors in the crash.
