Blaine County to Exit Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, Maintain Burn Ban

CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – Blaine County will be downgrading fire restrictions from Stage 1 to a burn ban.

The change will go into effect at midnight Friday morning.

Hill, Liberty, and Phillips County will all remain in Stage 1 fire restrictions for at least the next week, while Fergus County has removed all restrictions is allowing burn permits to be issued.

Burn bans and Stage 1 restrictions prohibit open burning, while Stage 1 also bans smoking in outdoor areas where there are flammable materials.

Fires are not allowed at any Fishing Access Sites or Wildlife Management Areas in counties with Stage 1 restrictions.

The entire Hi-Line remains in a drought, so no matter the local restrictions, it is important to take precautions to prevent fires from starting.
