Great Northern Fairgrounds to Host Numerous Halloween Events

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Northern Fairgrounds is getting ready to host a handful of events as Halloween approaches.

“It’s just going around and visiting with everybody and trying to get more community involvement. Once you get the ball rolling, it’s pretty fun to see how many people want to jump in,” said Fairgrounds Manager Frank English.

On Friday, October 29th, there will be a barbecue competition beginning at 5 PM that is open to the public.

“We’re still taking applicants for that,” said English. “We have seven already. So it’s going to be $25 to enter and there’s going to be three categories: beef brisket, pork ribs, and chicken wings. There will be a people’s choice and you can do a $10 donation to get a plate. There should be about 5-7 judges for that. Now that’s going to start about 5 PM Friday evening, if they choose to start early. And they just have to be done cooking by 6 PM, turning in their food on Saturday.”

On Saturday, October 30th, there will be a Trunk or Treat from 5-10 PM.

On both Friday and Saturday night, there will be a cash bar, live music and a mechanical bull until midnight.

The Fairgrounds will also be the site of the Havre Jaycees Haunted House this year, which will take place nightly from October 21st-31st.

An Escape Room will also be an ongoing event leading up to Halloween, but all reservations have been filled. However, there is a waiting list.

“We sold out just within the last few days. It booked up very, very quickly. Like the first week, we were more than half books. It’s 70 slots we have booked,” said Fairgrounds Secretary Anita Stevenson.

Other activities include a scavenger hunt, a small maze, horse carriage rides and a bounce house.
