BILLINGS, Mont. (NMB) – The Billings Gazette reports that a Yellowstone County Detention Officer has pleaded not guilty to a rape allegation.
Ryan Joseph Willett, 43, was arraigned on the charge of aggravated sexual intercourse without consent in State District Court on Monday.
Willett was off duty at the time of the alleged incident last Thursday night, in which he is accused of violently raping a woman while she tried to sleep.
The Gazette reports that bail has been set at $25,000, and it is unclear whether Willett will keep his job while criminal proceedings are ongoing, since requests for comment to County Officials were not immediately returned.
If Willett is released, he will be placed on GPS monitoring and will be prohibited from contacting the victim.
Willett also pleaded not guilty to a non-sexual misdemeanor assault charge on Monday after the victim reported a previous incident.
