GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – 34-year-old Lacole Dana of Great Falls was killed and a five-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy were injured in a rollover crash early Monday morning on US 87 in Cascade County.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 3:42 AM at mile marker 12, when Dana was driving a Toyota 4 Runner northbound. The vehicle drifted off the right side of the road and the driver overcorrected to the left, causing it to rotate counter clockwise. The vehicle then rolled across both lanes and came to rest upside-down on the left side of the road.
Dana was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, while the two children were transported to Benefis Hospital for treatment.
None of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts.
Alcohol and excessive speed are suspected factors, according to Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter.
The road was dry.
