HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Montana’s Redistricting Commission moved forward on Thursday afternoon with one map splitting the state into an eastern and western Congressional Districts.
The map could still be tweaked, as it has to go through one final public comment period before a November 9th meeting.
Tiebreaking vote Maylinn Smith broke the stalemate on the five person Commission by siding with the two GOP Commissioners. The map features an east and west district.
The only county that is not entirely in one District is Pondera County, which is basically cut in half. Toole, Teton, Lewis and Clark, Jefferson, and Park County are all in the eastern district, while Gallatin, Glacier, Silver Bow and Powell Counties are on the edge of the western district.
