BEAVERHEAD COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – A 69-year-old woman from Rock Springs, Wyoming was killed and four other Rock Springs residents, including two children, were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday morning in Beaverhead County.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 9:30 AM at mile marker 8 of Montana Highway 43, when the woman lost control of an eastbound Nissan Armada. The vehicle left the roadway on the left-side of the road, traveled 250 feet along the embankment, and vaulted over a large rock, causing it to become airborne.
The vehicle came to rest shortly after overturning on the driver’s side. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The four passengers: a 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, a 52-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Everyone had been wearing a seatbelt.
Excessive speed is a suspected factor in the crash. The road was wet.
