LIBBY, Mont. (NMB) – A 67-year-old Charlo woman has died from injuries that occurred on Friday evening when her vehicle struck a moose near Libby.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 5:37 PM at mile marker 64 of US 2, when the woman was driving a Subaru Crosstrek westbound. A moose entered the road and the vehicle struck it, sustaining heavy front end damage. The vehicle veered off to the left and came to rest in some trees.
The woman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a local hospital for treatment before succumbing to her injuries.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The road was bare and dry.
