Philip Aaberg to Perform Havre Christmas Concert

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Grammy and Emmy nominated pianist and composer Philip Aaberg will be performing a Christmas concert next week in Havre.

Aaberg put on a virtual Christmas concert last year from his Chester studio but says he has been waiting to entertain a live audience on the Hi-Line.

“It’s really what we live for as performers. We appreciate the ability to do Zoom concerts and everything, but ain’t nothing like the real thing.”

Aaberg says he has done over 300 Christmas concerts in his lifetime and likes to play a wide variety of Christmas music.

“It ranges. Everything from full on Black gospel tunes – ‘Oh Happy Day’ for example, which was a top ten hit back in the day, with a full gospel choir. I won’t be bringing a full gospel choir, unfortunately – To an arrangement that I have of Jingle Bells that’s called ‘Sleighed,’ it’s a pretty wild piece. Then there are more contemplative pieces.”

The show is presented by the Hi-Line Arts Council and is scheduled to begin at 7 PM on Wednesday, December 15th at the Havre High School Auditorium.
