The Havre Blue Ponies faced off against the Billings Central Rams Saturday night, each team simultaneously hosting the other team. The Billing Central boys traveling to Havre, the Havre girls making the trip off the Hi-Line.
In the girl’s game it was a tense rematch between the defending Class A Champion Ponies and the Rams. From the beginning it seemed like Havre was destined to repeat the results of their last meeting between these two teams. Havre jumped out ahead in the second quarter of the match and by the third The Ponies had sprinted into a 15-point lead, making victory seem like a sure thing. But at the end of the fourth quarter of play, two sunk free throws by The Rams ensured overtime. In OT it seemed like Havre would walk away with the win after tying twice but Billings Central squeaked out a win in the final seconds, the final score Billings Central 55, Havre ponies 54.
The result of the boy’s match-up was Billings Central 50, Havre 38.
