FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – The Fort Belknap Election Committee has released the results of the Special Election for the final open seat on the Community Council.
In the race for a two-year term as Assiniboine At-Large Representative – Elected by Assiniboine Tribe only, Curtis Horn defeated Cheryl D. Horn by a count of 147 to 100.
An inauguration was held for Curtis Horn on Wednesday morning.
All other seats on the Council were decided in the November General Election. Because of a lack of candidates for this seat before the initial filing deadline, a special election was held.
Five candidates entered the race and competed in the recent primary, with the two finalists squaring off in Tuesday’s election.
