HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Havre City Council convened on Monday evening for their first meeting of 2022.
At the meeting, all public officials that are either beginning a new term or starting their first term were administered the Oath of Office.
This includes new Mayor Doug Kaercher and new City Councilor Heather Parker, as well as incumbent City Councilors Andrew Brekke, Lindsey Ratliff, and Sarah McKinney, and incumbent City Court Judge Janie Hedstrom.
New City Council member Kimberly Bolta was not present, as Kaercher says she stated she was feeling under the weather. Bolta is expected to be sworn in at their next meeting.
Also at the meeting, Andrew Brekke was selected to serve as Council President for 2022.
Before the meeting adjourned, Kaercher announced that he is scheduling Town Hall meetings, which will take place on the third Monday of each month, or Tuesday if Monday is a federal holiday.
The meetings will be at City Hall at 7 PM and will allow for an informal session where City leaders can interact with the public, answer questions, and hear concerns.
No votes will be taken at these meetings, and Kaercher says they will continue as long as there is participation.
The first Town Hall meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 18th at 7 PM.
The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 7th at 7 PM.

- Approval of the following Mayor Board Appointments
- Ron Brenna to the City-County Airport Board (2-year-term)
- Re-appointment of Jeremy Hoffman to the Hill County Soil Conservation District (3-year-term)
- Re-appointment of Keith Doll to the Hill County Historic Preservation District (2-year-term)
- Appointment of Matt Boucher to the City-County Planning Board
- Approval of December Claims and Manual Warrants
- Brekke said that he hopes to call a meeting later this month once the proposed ordinance dealing with curb cuts is drafted
