FLATHEAD COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – The Flathead Beacon reports that 21-year-old Tanner Doyle White of Columbia Falls has been charged with deliberate homicide based on allegations he fatally shot a man on Flathead Drive in Evergreen on January 17th.
42-year-old Luke Simpson of Columbia Falls was found dead on arrival at the residence by authorities, and a neighbor told investigators he heard as many as nine gunshots and observed two vehicles in the area.
Law enforcement stopped White’s vehicle on January 23rd for a traffic stop after they say the investigation linked White to the crime. A firearm was found inside the vehicle and White was placed in custody, where he remains on $500,000 bail.
Detectives say White later admitted to being at the scene of the murder and to shooting Simpson with a handgun. White said he then left the scene with his fiancé, who he says was on a date with Simpson that same day.
