Montana’s Active COVID Case Count Again Hits Record High

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The state health department reported another 2,978 COVID-19 cases across Montana in their Thursday update as the active case count climbed to a record high of 18,090.

According to the DPHHS weekly epidemiological update, for the second straight week, every single sample they sequenced was of the Omicron variant. The variant has been detected in most counties and reservations in the state.

Seven counties reported at least 100 new COVID cases Thursday, led by Missoula with 595, Cascade with 443, Lewis and Clark with 316, and Gallatin with 313.

More than 1.37 million COVID vaccines have been administered in Montana, with 54 percent of eligible residents considered fully vaccinated.
