HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Havre woman is facing five pending misdemeanor charges after allegedly breaking a window, caring for children while highly intoxicated, and spitting on a Police officer on Sunday.
Crystal Dawn Horn, 49, of Havre, is facing two counts of endangering the welfare of children and one count each of criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and assault with bodily fluid.
Havre Police Captain Aaron Wittmer says law enforcement was dispatched at 4:38 PM to the Spirit Inn on 9th Avenue to a report of a woman busting out windows.
Horn was apparently pounding on a door looking for another female that resides there. Wittmer says Horn became upset when told the woman was not there and punched and broke a window.
Officers arrived and found Horn highly intoxicated and caring for two young girls, ages 2 and 4.
Wittmer says Horn had consumed about seven malt liquors and had a slight injury to her arm. She was placed under arrest and refused a transport to the hospital.
Wittmer says Horn ran out of the apartment and down the stairs when officers attempted to arrest her. Officers caught and arrested her and she was put in handcuffs.
Wittmer says Horn refused to walk and became deadweight. When told she would be charged with resisting, she turned around and spit in an officer’s face.
The officer was not injured.
Horn was placed into a patrol car and taken to the Hill County Detention Center, where she is currently being held on $2,675.
The children were taken into custody by Child Protective Services.
