LINCOLN, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Highway Patrol reports that a 49-year-old man from Nine Mile Falls, Washington was killed after the semi-truck they were in rolled over near Lincoln.
The crash occurred at 3:45 AM Monday morning, when a 30-year old man from Riverside, California was driving a Peterbilt pulling a trailer westbound at mile marker 84.5 of Highway 200. The vehicle drifted off the right side of the roadway and struck the end of a guardrail. The driver overcorrected, crossed the roadway and drove off the left side. The vehicle then slid down an embankment and overturned onto its right side. The cab of the semi struck a tree where the vehicle came to rest.
The passenger, the 49-year-old Washington man, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was injured but not hospitalized.
The road was bare and dry, and it is unclear what caused the crash.
