HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The future of the Havre 4th of July Festival and Community Picnic remains in jeopardy.
Event Chair Sherri Simonson has moved to Helena, and Allen ‘Woody’ Woodwick has decided to step down from his position on the Committee. This means they need someone new to help take over the event.
“Just ready to let somebody else take it over. It’s a really cool deal … I mostly just headed up all the music stuff and just helped out with odds and ends, the food and the other planning,” says Woodwick.
Woodwick says the person who takes over would need to organize many moving parts, such as reserving the barbecues and getting the insurance for the event.
“You just have to line up a lot of stuff. We have a step-by-step manual printed up for anybody to take it over, to make it an easy transition. And of course, we would be more than willing to help get somebody transitioned.
The event was last held in 2019, as it was canceled in 2020 and 2021.
Prior to the pandemic, the event had been put on annually by volunteers and provided food and entertainment to locals at no cost.
