CHESTER, Mont. (NMB) – The candidate filing deadline has come and gone for the 2022 elections, and in Liberty County, there will be one contested race.
There will be three Republican candidates on the primary ballot for Sheriff. Incumbent Nick Erickson is facing challenges from Jim Hofer and Darbie Wentworth.
There will be a new Justice of the Peace, as Chris Case was the only candidate to file for the non-partisan position, while incumbent Holly Fredrickson did not.
All other candidate filings to date are from incumbents. They are:
- Clerk & Recorder (R – Davin Buffington)
- District 2 on the County Commission (R – Joette Woods)
- County Attorney (R – Robert Padmous)
- Treasurer (R – Denise Wanken)
- Superintendent of Schools (R – Kathy Armstrong)
The deadline for declared write-ins is 5 PM on April 4th. However, the names of declared write-ins will not be on the ballot, but they can be written in by voters.
Primary election day is June 7th, and the General Election will take place on November 8th.
