HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Reports of mosquitos in the region are expected to be on the rise following recent rainfall and incoming warm weather.
That’s according to Hill County Weed and Mosquito District Supervisor Terry Turner, who offers the following tips for preventing infestations on your property.
“Go around and check your yards and empty out any containers that may be holding water. Because one cup is 250 mosquitos. If you have a five gallon bucket half full, that’s 10,000 mosquitos you could be breeding … And then if any yard has a discarded tire or something, get rid of those. Because it gives mosquitos a chance to breed in the tires and they can hatch out in 3-5 days with the warmth of the tire.”
Turner also suggests people open up any plugged up rain gutters.
Turner says his crews have just started fogging efforts around the District, which will continue throughout the summer.
