HARDIN, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Highway Patrol says six people were killed, including three minors, and 11 people were injured in a massive pileup that was caused by a dust storm near Hardin on Friday evening.
All victims were Montanans, the youngest of which was three-years-old. Of the 11 injured, three are in critical condition.
29 individuals in total were involved in the crash, with vehicles registered in nine states and one Canadian province.
The crash occurred at around 4:30 PM on I-90 and involved 21 vehicles, six of which were commercial semis.
Gusty winds caused a dust storm that led to driver’s having zero visibility on the busy interstate.
It took six hours for the road to reopen.
