GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal
to improve approximately 10 miles of US-87 located roughly 30 miles
northeast of Great Falls.
The project begins in the area of Floweree Lake, at mile marker 20 and extends northeast for approximately 10 miles ending near the intersection with Tunis South Road.
Proposed work includes milling the top layer of asphalt, applying a new asphalt overlay followed by a chip seal, and finishing with new pavement markings and signage. The purpose of the project is to preserve the existing asphalt and prolong the usable life of the roadway.
The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in summer of 2023 depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new Right-of-Way or utility relocations will be needed.
An important part of properly planning for future projects is partnering with the community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at https://www.mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Great Falls office at PO Box
1359, Great Falls, MT 59403-1359. Please note that comments are for project UPN 9845000.
