HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Havre man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Thursday evening along the Beaver Creek Highway.

Hill County Undersheriff Stan Martin says the victim has been identified as 63-year-old Kelly Benson. He says next of kin and family have been notified.

The crash occurred at around 8 PM within the boundaries of Beaver Creek Park at mile marker 16 of Secondary Highway 234.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Christopher Baker says the man was driving a Honda Valkyrie motorcycle northbound. He failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and landed in a ditch. The motorcycle rolled and the driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected.

Alcohol, drugs or excessive speed are all not considered suspected factors in the crash at this time, says Baker, who added that the incident remains under investigation.

Agencies that were involved in the response to the crash were the Hill County Sheriff’s Office, the Montana Highway Patrol, and the Havre Fire Department, which provided an ambulance.
