Legal Guidance and Advice for Aging Adults at the Havre Senior Center on Monday

HAVRE, MT (NMB) The DPHHS Aging Services out of Great Falls is presenting a “Legalities of Aging” event at the Havre Senior Monday August 29th from 1-2PM.

Katy Lovell, the legal service developer for the State of Montana, will be part of the team discussing legal matters for the elderly and says there will be an overview of what aging Montanans need to know.

“We’re going to try to do an overview of a lot of the legal issues that we face as we age: estate planning, how to protect yourself from financial exploitation, normal aging versus diseased aging; capacity issues. Then we’re going to answer questions for folks.”

Lovell says living in a remote community like the Hi-line makes it more necessary to establish legal safeguards and the sooner the better.

“In a region like the Hiline where you can be farther away from services and farther away from family, advanced planning is so important as you age because you got to get those protections in place sooner.”
