(NMB) The MSU Northern Lights basketball team and Head Coach Shawn Huse are two weeks into preparing for a new season, and so far Coach Huse says with half the team comprising of veterans and the other half new guys, it’s been a lot of fun. “In terms of putting in things and how we do stuff, with about half and half, eight returners and eight new guys, you have some rookies in there learning those things, you’ve got some veterans in there learning those things. So, it’s been a lot of fun.”
Early on one of the things that has stood out to Coach Huse is the leadership he’s seeing from some of his guys. “Oh, it’s been unbelievable and probably has exceeded my expectations. In terms of the guys speaking up when things need to be said and at the right times and saying the right things for the right reasons. Having the motivation being simply helping this team get to the level it needs to be to contend for championships. I mean I couldn’t be more grateful.”
The Lights open up their 2022/2023 season on Friday October 28th against Kings University. That game will be played at Havre High School.
