(NMB) Montana’s only two college wrestling programs will meet for the first time this season Wednesday night when the MSU Northern Lights travel to Great Falls to take on the University of Providence. Last year the two teams split their two meetings. Northern won the first meeting 25-9 and lost the second meeting 18-16. Even though this first meeting comes early in the season, Northern Head coach Tyson Thivierge wants his team to go out and set the pace.
“We’ve been training and talking about in the room, setting the pace, keeping momentum, setting the pace, doing what we do best. Not wrestling our opponents matches.”-Thivierge
Both teams are picked near the top of the Cascade Conference Wrestling Conference and this dual will give coach Thivierge a good idea where is team is at early in the year.
“We’ll see where we’re at when the dust settles. I’d like to see us go out there and assert ourselves in matches.”-Thivierge
The Lights Providence Wrestling dual is set to begin Wednesday night at 7pm in Great Falls. The Lights will also wrestle on Saturday in Fargo, North Dakota, taking part in the Bison open.
