(Bozeman)-A new grant is helping Montana State University students who are parents.
The grant is approximately $1.5 million and and comes from the Department of Education. It aims to support student parents and their children, as well as strengthen the early childhood and caregiver and educator profession.
The four-part project will offer extended childcare services to student parents by partnering with existing licensed childcare providers; provide childcare tuition assistance for low-income student parents; provide additional services to student parents such as afterhours care, financial counseling and mental health support; and enhance the early childhood education academic program and improve the professional preparation of the early childhood workforce.
The ultimate goal is to help MSU students who are parents succeed and increase the number of student parents who earn degrees.
