Technology previously found only in sci-fi movies is becoming reality in Hill County.
As of last week, Hill County’s drone program is fully operational.
Josh Miller, the drone program administrator and pilot in command explains the various purposes for which drones will be used.
“So as far as our operation, originally the intent is with the large drone, mosquito abatement, and then weed control for obnoxious weeds and spraying. So, we use the bigger drone for that, but now with our smaller drone we can use it for aerial photography for law enforcement, search and rescue, if we need to, if we have someone missing let’s say in a body of water, we can put it up in the air. Amtrak is an excellent example. When we had that derailment, and they needed a drone on sight we could be there for something like that as well. So, whether it’s a large incident or a small incident, whatever they need us for in the air, we can deploy and pretty much get a drone on demand immediately.” -Josh Miller
