New changes are official regarding the Hill County Commissioners. Shari Williams has become a new commissioner and has taken the place of Diane McLean, and Mark Peterson has now become the new commissioner chair. Mark Peterson will serve as commissioner chair for a two-year term. Jake Strissel was then nominated to serve as vice chair.
As commissioner chair Mark Peterson said that he would do things differently. He said that everyone on the commission should know all of the jobs. So, he said that periodically he will ask the other commissioners to chair the meeting so that they all have the experience. Mark also said that he would like to get high school students involved in the meetings in order to learn about county government.
In other news, Bandi Williams has resigned from her position as the disease intervention specialist for Hill County. Commissioner Jake Strissel said, “that is a huge loss for the county Brandy has done amazing things for us. We wish her well.” Brandi Williams provided a document to the county with which the person who fills her position can use for direction.
The commissioners also discussed the potential of signing a contract with Healthy Is. The contract would be a health program that county employees can choose to enroll in. The program involves personalized goal setting, as well as medical grade health and wellness tools. Commissioner Mark Peterson said the cost would be between 15 and 17 thousand dollars for the six-month trial. The county agreed to table the decision in order to potentially survey the county employees to see how many would choose to use the program.
