HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s Elks Lodge donated and delivered 72 cases of food to the Havre Food Bank in February.
In a press release, Lodge Secretary Brandy Kurtz said, ” The Havre Elks Lodge was pleased to donate nineteen cases of pasta, seventeen cases of cereal, fifteen cases of peanut butter, fourteen cases of canned fruit, and seven cases of honey to the Havre Food Bank.”
Kurtz says they were looking for a project to use their $2,000 Beacon Grant to maximize impact in the community. She reached out to the Food Bank and worked with Manager Samantha Nimmick to prioritize a needs list and worked with Gary and Leo’s IGA to purchase these items.
Nimmick told Kurtz that the Food Bank was low on food due to the extreme cold and the government shutdown earlier this year.
