Hill County to Host Public Forum on 2023 Flooding

(NMB) Hill County will host a public forum meeting to discuss the flooding of 2023. The meeting will take place this Wednesday April 19th, at 6:30pm at the Chuckwagon on the Great Northern Fairgrounds. Hill County DES Coordinator Amanda Frickel explains one of the reasons for planning the meeting.

People are very concerned and if we can address their concerns and bridge that gap with communication, that usually seems to be almost as big a problem as the catastrophic events themselves. So, if we can let the public in on that and allow them and encourage them to ask their questions and speak their concerns, I feel like we get a lot better information out there and then people actually know what’s happening in their communities.“-Frickel

Some of the areas of discussion will be current assessment of roads and problem areas in Hill County, what stage of flooding we are currently in, timelines for mitigation and recovery and the process of declaring an emergency. There will also be time for public comments and concerns. The Public Forum Meeting will take place Wednesday at 6:30 in the 4-H Chuckwagon at the Fairgrounds.
