Havre – The Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Thursday night. The main topic of discussion at this meeting were the school calendars for the 2023-24 school year.
At the school board meeting on Tuesday April 11th, the Havre Education Association (HEA) made a request to the board of trustees to delay a vote on the school calendars until the May 9th, 2023 board meeting which will takes place after the Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees Election and reorganization of the board.
Trustee Jake Ingram made a motion to table the vote on the school calendars until the May 9th meeting. That motion failed 5 votes to 3. Next Trustee Ingram made a motion.to postpone definitely the vote on the school calendars until the May 9th meeting. This motion by parliamentary procedure allowed the board to discuss the four proposed calendar options and also hear comments from the teachers, staff, and community members who attended the meeting. After discussion from the board and hearing from the members of the public attending the meeting, a vote was taken on Ingram’s motion to postpone definitely. The motion passed five votes to three.
