FORT BENTON, Mont. (NMB) – The Chouteau County Sheriff’s office has released the name of the person killed in a single vehicle rollover wreck near Fort Benton, Monday afternoon. 72-year-old Michael George O’Connor from Fort Benton was killed on Montana Highway 80 near mile marker 9 at about 1:30 PM Monday.
The Montana Highway Patrol says the northbound vehicle left the right side of the roadway and hit an agricultural approach, then rolled. It’s unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, O’Connor was wearing a seatbelt, the airbags deployed, and the roads were bare and dry at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
