The Havre Northstars battled the Tri-County Cardinals on the road Tuesday evening in a double header. The Northstars entered the game red hot winning their last 6 games in a row. Nothing changed Tuesday evening with the Northstars defeating the Cardinals (15-3) and (11-0) in the matchups. Game one in the (15-3) victory the score was tied at the end of 1 (2-2). Both teams scored one run going into the 5th inning all tied up (3-3). In the 5th the Northstars offense got it going with the defense keeping the Cardinals in check. Havre went on a (7-0) run in the 5th to take a (10-3) lead led by a Terek Shipp two score double. Havre kept their lead growing scoring another five runs in the 6th to close out the game. Brody Nanini (Nah-knee-knee) got the win for Havre, the righthander threw for six innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven. Kale Reno went 3-for-5 at the plate the lead the Northstars in hits.
In the (11-0) game two victory, Havre jumped out early scoring two in the 1st to take a (2-0) lead that was later built to a (4-0) lead after a two-run 3rd inning. Havre went on to score one run in each of the 5th and 6th innings before closing the game out with a (5-0) 7th inning to get the win. Tanner Delarosa shut down the Cardinals, throwing a complete game shutout while striking out six with only four hits allowed. Drake Berreth collected four hits in five at bats to lead the Northstars red hot offense.
After losing 3 of their last 4 back in mid-June, the Northstars have bounced back in conference play, winning eight in a row and nine of their last 10. Havre is back in action Thursday when they travel to Great Falls to take on the Chargers in a double header beginning at 1PM.
