Havre Football Ready For Road Test At Laurel

The Havre High School football team is coming off of its biggest win of the season, beating East Helena on homecoming night, (41-6). New Media Broadcasters caught up with head coach Jake Eldridge after a week of practice following the game. He discussed how his squad isn’t changing much leading up to the next game.

“It’s been a lot of the same (and) just making sure that we go back to work and understand the success that we have had is for a reason,” Eldridge said. “It’s because of the work and the consistency we’ve been operating with here in the last four or five weeks.”

“Now, we get back to work and see what we did wrong and what we can improve on and look forward to seeing what we do well and improving on that,” Eldridge continued.

The (4-2) Blue Ponies will now head down south to take on the Laurel Locomotives, a team that has mirrored Havre’s schedule to an extent. Eldridge looks forward to what his team will be up against in a hostile road environment.

“They’re coached very well on both sides of the ball,” Eldridge said. “They’re a very physical team and have athletes all over the place.”

“They’re a very talented football team,” Eldridge continued. “It’s going to be a great challenge for our guys. We’re really looking forward to going down there and playing in a playoff-type atmosphere.”

The Blue Ponies and Locomotives will kick off at 6pm on Friday night from Laurel. The game can be heard on KOJM-610AM.
