The MSU-Northern Football Lights are playing the back end of consecutive home games on Saturday when they face the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers at Tilleman Field.
New Media Broadcasters caught up with Lights head coach Jerome Souers breaks down what he has seen on film with the Mountaineers, especially on the offensive side of the football because their head coach, Tim Camp, has an offensive background.
“Half the time, they’re in shotgun (formation) and half the time they’re under center,” Souers said. “They do a lot of play action (and) they move the pocket.”
“They’re a team that is emerging (and) finding their way,” Souers continued. “I think it’s going to be a battle of a couple of young teams.”
I have a lot of respect for Coach Camp and his staff and what they are doing,” Souers said. “They can come in here and throw it every down.”
Coach Souers gives New Media Broadcasters listeners a breakdown of the offensive skill positions that will be on display for the opponent come Saturday.
“Their quarterback (Quincy Glasper) is very athletic (and) prolific,” Souers said. “He can get great at creating time (and) extending the play.”
“(They have t)hree really good receivers in the tight end group,” Souers continued. “Coach Camp’s son (Willie) plays tight end. They have a lot of tools; it’s just a matter of getting them all on the same page. Last weekend, they got it together.”
“We need to feel like we can get ourselves into a similar rhythm in order to compete with a team like this,” Souers said.
