The MSU-Northern Skylights volleyball program is coming off of a split week with a victory against Carroll College followed by a defeat at Rocky Mountain College.
New Media Broadcasters asked head coach Jerry Wagner about the Rocky game and how the match slipped away after evening it up through two sets.
“The first two sets were a swing from one team having their way to our team having their way,” Wagner said. “We just have to keep fighting to get better in some areas; maybe a little toughness in those moments, maybe a little more togetherness in those moments as far as being on the same page.”
There is now a break in the action for the Skylights as they will get an entire week off to regroup and focus on what is ahead as they cross the midpoint of their season. Wagner said what the team will work on the most with the time off.
“Everyone refers to a grind; it hasn’t really been a grind,” Wagner said. “This group has worked hard every day. The seem fresh.”
“This break will be good. We’ll work on some fine tuning (and) those situations that I talked about before,” Wagner continued. “I think we have a fresh approach and it will be nice to have a week off, but it will be an active rest.”
The Skylights resume competition on October 20th when they travel on the road to Dillon to take on Montana Western.
