(NMB) The MSU Northern Men’s basketball team opened up the season last week with a 96 to 31 win over Portland Bible College. The Lights and head coach Shawn Huse now hit the road this week, and will be in California to play four games in six days. Coach Huse knows it’s very early in the season and says this week’s long road trip is all just a part of the learning process for this year’s team.
“We’re still a long way away from where we want to be and that’s just nothing you can force, it’s part of the learning curve and to get there and reach our full potential, it’s going to take games like this. This is a real challenge for this team. These are significantly tough teams on the road and true road games.” –Huse
With the short turn around on games during the road trip. Coach Huse and the Lights are approaching it like a business trip and a chance to build some team chemistry.
“It’ll be good, because we’ll be forced to be around each other. Not a lot of distractions and working hard together and figuring out together and leaning on each other.”-Huse
The Lights will play three NAIA opponents and one NCAA Division 2 program. They’ll pay La Sierra Wednesday at 6pm, William Jessop on Friday at 8pm, Menlo College Saturday at 5:30pm and Pacific Union College on Monday November 6th at 8pm.
