(Havre) – On Wednesday November 15th the Havre Hill County Library will be hosting an Authors Fair featuring three local authors. New Media Broadcasters sat down with Rachel Rawn the Havre Hill County Library director and authors Roger Hart and Charles Finn to ask if it was important for libraries to support local authors.
Rawn: “I think so. I think in general libraries should support the local community as much as possible because we are also lucky enough to receive a lot of local support so its kind of paying it back, paying it forward type of thing.”
Roger: “And I think local authors should support the library because they do such a great job for the community. I can’t imagine a community without a library, it’d be so soulless. We need to appreciate what they do.”
Charles: “Yeah, I would flip that on its head and say that the local community really needs to support the local library because it is such a valuable resource and you know librarians have come under some fire lately this past year especially, but they’re just doing a very important job for everyone whether you visit the library or not.”
We also asked how many people they are expecting at the event.
Rawn: “Well I hope to fill the room I don’t know how many to expect, but we’ll see I guess.”
Charles: “The three of us, Roger and I and Gwen, read about a year ago and it was in the spring at the university that was pretty well attended. So, it’s kind of fun to do that again because this will hopefully be, you know, some of the people who weren’t able to make it then or didn’t know about it or haven’t heard about it. And really, it’s always fun to read in your hometown, right. You tour around the state and do a few readings but it’s always fun to do it for your friends and family.”
