In Chinook’s season opener, the Sugarbeeters girls’ basketball team had a dominant performance in their season opener, beating the Choteau Bulldogs, (64-22). The Beeters were able to capitalize off of 12 first quarter Choteau turnovers and lead (17-2) after one. Chinook then took a (40-7) lead into the half and never looked back.
For the Sugarbeeters, Senior Hallie Neibauer got into foul trouble early, but was still able to have a 13-point effort. Junior Alexis Seymour wasn’t far behind with 12 points and Gracie Skoyen was the third Beeter in double-figures with 10.
The second game was much more competitive between the school’s boys’ teams. Chinook ended up losing, (60-49). The Beeters were on top (13-8) after the first quarter, but the Bulldogs went on an (8-0) run in the beginning of the second quarter to come back and lead for the rest of the contest.
Jackson Nordboe led Chinook with 19 points, but fouled out early in the fourth quarter. No other Beeter was close to the scoring output that the senior center came up with.
The Beeters now take both of their teams to the Coyote Classic in Shelby, which will take place next weekend. HiLineToday.com will have updates to come on times and teams.
