GLASGOW, Mont (NMB) – In Montana, 50,000 caregivers provide care for their loved ones, totaling 56 million unpaid caregiving hours.
To help family and professional caregivers combat this potential for caregiver distress, MSU Extension is bringing in Caregiver Expert Vicki Schmall (sh-MALL) to Glasgow for two days to speak to those caring for others with dementia.
Tuesday, April 23rd will focus on professional caregivers. Nurses, CNA’s, Activity directors and facility administrators are all encouraged to participate.
Wednesday, April 24th focuses on family caregivers, who are not only stressed but also curious about the disease that has become the center of their every day. They will also offer an evening program for children to increase their awareness of dementia in a fun story time pizza party.
The program will begin at 9am each day. Contact the Valley County Extension Office to pre-register at 406-228-6241
