On Dec. 21, the U.S. Department of Labor announced that OSHA will issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking later this month to modernize the agency’s “Fire Brigades” standard, which has only had minor updates since it was first published in 1980.
Since then, OSHA has published an unofficial draft of the proposed rule changes for review by the public. These rule changes would expand the protections it offers to firefighters both structural and wildland, EMS workers, and technical search and rescue workers.
OSHA has also published a dedicated web page for viewing the ruling. The official draft will be published there as well as instructions on how to comment, in the coming weeks. Find the link to this webpage here
