(Missoula) The 2024 Race to the Sky sled dog event has been canceled due to a lack of snow.
In a press release, Pam Beckstrom said lack of snow, no base to build from, predictions of no significant snow precipitation in the near forecast and above average temps were the reason for canceling the race.
This is in contrast to last year, where the race was host to 17 racers and around 150 dogs racing in both 300 and 100 miles lengths.
There is currently no public information about next years race plans.
