Over the weekend, the MSU-N wrestling program was in Arizona to battle Vanguard University (California) and Embry-Riddle. Both duals ended in Lights’ victories to move them to (7-4) on the season.
In the dual versus Vanguard, the Lights won, (33-19). The Lions ended up jumping out to a (16-0) start, but Northern six of the final seven matchups. The Lights recorded three falls in a row at one point by No. 17 Devin Crawford, Cade Gubler, and No. 7 Austin Vanek. No. 21 Carl Hansen also won his dual in the 197-pound weight class.
For the Embry-Riddle match, Northern took it, (33-14). Crawford again wrestled to victory in the 165-pound weight class. Hansen won his bout as well.
The Lights will be in Billings on Thursday for a rematch with Providence. It is an annual tradition that the only two sanctioned college wrestling programs in the Treasure State meet on the eve of the Montana State Wrestling Tournament.
