HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s City Council met Monday night for their regular meeting in City Hall.
The Council approved a resolution to donate one of their old fire trucks to the Kremlin Rural Fire District. Mayor Tim Solomon said it is the sister truck to one that was already donated to them.
On Friday, Fire Chief Mel Paulson said that there was a mistake made at the City Council meeting and fire truck will actually be going to the Rudyard Rural Fire District. The City Council will have a resolution to make this change at the next City Council meeting on May 6th.
The Council also approved a resolution to move gas tax dollars into a bridge and road safety fund. The City is not sure of the final dollar amount yet, but they expect it to be around $165,000 this year. It will go towards fixing the roads and curbs on West 13th Street in Highland Park, between Monroe and Wilson Avenues. Public Works Director Dave Peterson says they estimate the total project costing between $300,000 to $400,000, so it will be a few years before the City raises enough funds.
After the meeting, Recycle Hi-Line presented Environmental Hero Awards to St. Jude’s and the Havre Day Activity Center for their recycling projects.
