HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Thursday, May 2nd, the Havre Public Schools Foundation and the Montana State University Northern Foundation will be sponsoring an event honoring women in math and science. Havre Public Schools Superintendent Andy Carlson says they hope to inspire young women in our area with a keynote speech by Northern graduate, Dr. Leslie Ruyle, and a panel discussion with other local women.
“We have some MSUN alums, obviously. We have a civil engineer that’s going to sit on the panel, a nurse that’s going to be on the panel. I’m working on a few others. And then, some individuals from the Ag Research Station are going to be on the panel.”
Carlson wants to invite everyone to the event, as these stories will be meaningful for men and women.
“One of the things that I’ve already been asked is, ‘If I’m a young man, should I come to this?”. Absolutely, because, obviously, we’re honoring our women in math and science fields. At the same time, the stories that these folks tell will be meaningful on several levels.”
The event will take place at Havre High School at 6:30 PM. Chinook resident, Dr. Jayne Morrow will be serving as their Master of Ceremonies and leading the panel discussion.
