HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Department of Agriculture and Noxious Weed Management Advisory Council has awarded over $1.79 million for the development and implementation of noxious weed management programs across Montana. A press release says the grants assist counties, conservation districts, local communities, tribes, researchers and educators in efforts to combat noxious weeds in Montana.
Some local projects that were funded include $31,150 to the Hill County Weed District for their East Fork Fire Noxious Weed Project. The Liberty County Weed District received $23,300 for their Lake Elwell-Marias River Weed Control Project. The Fergus County Weed District got $10,600 for the Hilger Cooperative Weed Management Area.
In addition to the $1.79 million grant hearing awards, each of the 56 counties and seven reservations in the state are eligible to receive $7,500 per year.
