(MT Office of Governor) Governor Greg Gianforte recently appointed John A. Mercer to the bench of the twentieth Judicial District Court, covering Lake and Sanders Counties.
Mercer replaces Deborah Kim Christopher, who has elected to retire.
Mercer is a 1979 UM graduate and graduated from the Northwestern University School of Law in 1982. He has practiced law for 42 years with a Polson firm, and was President of Heritage Management Company, also in Polson.
Upon Christopher’s retirement notice on March 21, Gianforte sought qualified candidates for the position through April 8th. After a 30-day comment period, Mercer was accepted for the position on May 9.
