(Helena) Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen says she’s seeking public comment on an amendment to the federal Every Student Succeeds Act, specifically the way it measures student growth in the classroom.
The Office of Public Instruction introduced a new way of testing students this past school year, something OPI says reduces stress on teachers and students while also giving immediate feedback.
Arntzen says that because the pilot program did not include a final exam score for the students involved because it was still experimental at that time, and because of the lack of scores an amendment is necessary.
