(Yellowstone) On June 1st a bison gored an 83-year-old woman on Yellowstone National Park.
Goring means when an animal injures someone using it’s tusks or horns, and the woman reportedly sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Park authorities say they want to use this opportunity to remind people that it’s the responsibility of the visitor to respect safety regulations and stay a safe distance from wildlife, defined as 25 yards for large animals including bison.
The park says that while Bison are not aggressive animals, they will protect their space if they feel threatened. Bson injure more people in Yellowstone than any other animal.
